Eagle Academy Cong Hgts Nov 17-18 2016

The Team of Ralph Fox, Bill Hakkarinen, Ron Tucker set up the layout on Thursday 17 November 2016 and ran trains on Friday 18 November. We used 21 Modules plus the Geezer Gate from the Md trailer. We used the four foot corners and had the entire layout set for a 31.5” rail height. We decorated with a variety of toys and buildings with winter and Christmas featured on most of the modules. We set up the layout and most of the scenery Thursday night between 6 and 9 PM. We completed the scenery for the layout early Friday morning and started running trains by 0800. The first class of students arrived at 0915.

The audience included children from the ages of 3 thru 8 plus teachers and school staff. Between 0915 and 1400 approximately 900 students visited the layout.  The purpose of the Trackers doing these shows at Eagle Academy is to talk about how trains are an important part of transportation in the US and everywhere else. After each class had a chance to look at the layout, they were moved up on the stage at the end of the room and one of the Team talked to them about types of trains.

The Eagle Academy staff attended the show and was very pleased with how the show went. Check the website for photos or this Youtube link for a video of the show.

The track plan was a rectangle 28’ x 32’. We used the Md Trailer for the Geezer Gate, Power Cabinet and Corners.

 

Timonium Show Again: April 23 and 24, 2016

The Trackers will be back at the Great Scale Train Show, Timonium, MD on April 23 and 24. Hours Saturday are 9 AM to 5 PM, Sunday 10 AM to 4 PM.

Come out Friday afternoon or evening, 12-9 PM, to help with set up. Setup continues Saturday AM, 7-9 AM.

NEW SHOW FOR THE TRACKERS!!

Mark your calendars – NEW SHOW FOR THE TRACKERS!

We will be doing a new event in Gaithersburg, MD on Saturday May 7. We will be running an approximately 20×20 foot O Gauge layout at the Gaithersburg Community Museum for Train Day as well as the city’s new “Milla De Mayo” event in the evening. We will be running from 10-8 on the patio between the museum’s B&O Budd Car and the CSX Main Line. If the weather is not favorable, we unfortu…nately will have to cancel. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather and mark the event down on your calendars!

Here are a few photos of the museum. The city has a beautiful museum in the freight house. Outside is the #14 steam engine, caboose, and RDC Car. The address for the musuem is 9 S. Summit Ave, Gaithersburg, MD 20877

Current Version of Our Module Standards for Review

This is the latest iteration of the “NCT Module Standards & Building Guide” distributed to the members on April 23, 2015.  This version includes revisions made based on the comments we’ve received and the discussions at the Feb, March and April meetings.  The Board intends to propose these revised Standards (version dated Apr 20, 2015) to be voted on at the May 21 meeting.  Per our Bylaws, only partners may vote, you must be present at the meeting to vote, and passage requires 2/3 in favor.
